As much as GOW3 is all about run-and-gun carnage and in-your-face brutality, I prefer to depict the more overlooked aspects of it, namely the importance of cover and concealment, situational awareness, and of course, the ever-evolving selection of enemies that make the lineups. I also sought to depict the desolate/devastated environment that pervades the Gears universe.
Though frankly I think my second entry is stronger from a thematic and visual standpoint (see line below).
Edit: If you haven't seen it already, I'd advise you to check out my 2nd entry HERE [link] . I'll be retiring this one in favor of that one shortly before the end of the contest entry period.
I can't really comment on Judgment's story since I haven't played it, though I will say that GOW3's ending seemed too cliche. Yeah, activating some savior device that instantly ends all the Locust, anytime and anywhere...
Not to mention I didn't like some of the changes to Horde mode, gameplay wise.
Ultimately I guess it helps not to be too heavily vested into game storylines. Many ME3 fans were quite vocal about their disappointment, as well as Dragon Age players when the 2nd game hit release.
horde in GOW 3 was amazing, what they have done to it in judgment is horrible, it is a vile insult, in fact i don't even think of it as horde mode anymore, they call it survival now and u can only be the four main characters and basically baird is a engineer, cole a soldier, the new chick sofia a medic and the new guy paduk a scout/ sniper. they each can do their own things in survival to help fend off the locust; baird can repair turrets and barriers etc... and also deploy a spare turret for extra support, cole can deploy extra ammo and has the best weapons by far strength wise, sofia can heal people with new stim grenades and paduk can climb into nests areas to shoot with his rifle but he has weapons that run out of ammo faster he can also throw these grenades which show the location of enemies. it all sounds impressive but it really isn't...i much prefered to be able to choose any character u wanted and use any weapon u wanted and build up a base how u wanted in GOW 3. to be honest the only good multiplayer mode is free-for all, thta is good old fashioned fun the story is good though, great prequal and there are two campaigns right off the bat, no waiting for DLC (though one is shorter than the other but still)
Well, they did introduce some fresh ideas. What they can do to improve Horde is to incorporate some of the concepts from Survival. Keep character classes, though preferably you would get to choose your class independently of whichever skin/character you picked. Doesn't matter if you're Fenix, Dom, Carmine, Baird, Cole, or anyone else. Characters would get to level up at the end of a wave and improve their special skills in various ways.
While not so much a horde mode, I'd like to see a dynamic multiplayer mode with missions, objectives, and random events, as well as map transitions. While yes it could be similar to coop story, it wouldn't be the exact same thing.
As for cosmetic features, instead of having to buy skins through DLCs and whatnot, I'd like to see a build your own character feature, kinda like Saints Row, along with customizable armor selections. Yeah, existing characters are cool, but sometimes it's also fun to make your own.
i wouldn't mind a create your own character feature, but ity is a priority IMO, i would prefer plenty of the existing characters (locust and humans) to be available like GOW 3, there are still characters that haven't been introduced that could be on the human side (from the books/ comics), i wrote up a list of characters that IMO should be in it:
*1. Marcus Fenix *2. Dom Santiago *3. Augustus Cole *4. Damon Baird *5. COG Gear *6. Anya Stroud *7. Clay Carmine (unlock) 8. Sam Byrne (unlock) *9. Jace Stratton (unlock) *10. Dizzy Wallin (unlock) *11. Tai Kaliso (unlock) 12. Alex Brand (unlock) 13. Michael Barrick (unlock) *14. Padrick Salton (unlock) 15. Alicia Valera (unlock) 16. Bernie Mataki (unlock) *17. Victor Hoffman (unlock) 18. Minh Young Kim (unlock) 19. Aaron Griffon (unlock) 20. Annalisa (unlock) 21. Gus (unlock) 22. Draper (unlock) 23. Anthony Carmine (unlock) 24. Ben Carmine (unlock) 25. Ezra Loomis (unlock) 26. Garron Paduk (unlock) 27. Sofia Hendrik (unlock) 28. Golden Gear (unlock) 29. Onyx Gear (unlock) 30. Chairman Prescott (unlock) 31. Adam Fenix (unlock)
and we don't need alternate costumes of the same characters, that is what i call pointless. or if they have to exist then u press a button on the same character to change costume don't make a character in its own right, like if u want to change marcus' outfit go to him and press y.
To add to that list, I'd also like to see some of the Stranded/civilian characters as skins.
Well, they gotta find some lame skins to sell via DLCs. Then there was the rage from beta testers over Thrashball Cole being made available via DLC. Along with those crappy weapon skins that got the love/hate relationship at launch. I'd have preferred to see more guns, or even a weapon modification feature somewhat along the lines of what other lame modern warfare shooters offer.
well annalisa and griffin on that list of mine aren't COG, they are more notable stranded (its just one hasn't been in the games yet). if they want to sell stuff via dlc why don't they do the locust types that way, because there are so many different locust armour variants and i have no problem with them because they are all canon/ logical but having costumes like big rig dizzy and thrashball cole was gay 9don't even get me started on thrashball locust...it is non canon, it says so on the website
