Marauder prototype by Kvlticon Marauder prototype by Kvlticon
A possible candidate for Carbon Dusk mk II, featuring turbines instead of rotors. Though considerably larger, it is faster and more heavily armed.

The turbines may make for tempting targets, but..so would rotor systems *eye roll* it looks good. maybe a 'mid season' upgrade for em for for when they need a bit of extra punch for a mission? seems like it would be more expensive to run.

True. In reality these types of vehicles wouldn't be practical at all, though the same could be said for most scifi inventions.

I kinda got the idea to do these after the Vikings in Starcraft II, as well as the Macross Veritechs. Though one key difference is that they lack a dedicated mecha or aviation form and generally operate in a hybrid state that is adjustable to suit either purpose.

I would think it would have more practical purpose then you would think, a quick response strike unit that can operate like a helicopter and jet in one ..with some mild ground abilities would be quite useful in a lot of situations. People use to think that Helicopters where going to be useless in combat, and then thought that once Helicopters came about, tanks would be useless.

Such a vehicle for a gun ship in urban, mountainous or wooded areas would do quite well.   And at least it isn't as ridiculous as say..anything in Gundam.. (though i love Gundam..was building 16 story tall robots really the next step in cost effective war?)

It looks similar to a design concept i came up with for a Ground support fighter i made in Lego but never drew..

And again, Why is this not in a video game, or in toy Form.. or in toy form AND video game? D=

I thought of that as well, though I usually default to a mindset that writes off most scifi innovations.

A Lego model is pretty good - drawing is much easier when you have a 3d model to reference or manipulate. If you don't mind, I'd like to check it out some day, perhaps even give a shot at drawing it.

As for games, some day I do plan to develop a f2p browser/mobile game - a turn-based tactical RPG type deal. Combat would be like XCOM's, with some emphasis on adventure as in the pre-Fallout 3 games. Though I think I'll probably be doing my own web graphic novel first, which will entail a lot of character/environment practice before I can pull it off.

The turbines make tempting targets for the enemy to target...although I love the missile launchers and the gatling guns.
