COG - Model 01 drone by Kvlticon COG - Model 01 drone by Kvlticon
"What the heck is that thing?"
"I don't know. But if Silverbacks could think and tear grubs limb from limb, that's what it would be."
"Well I hope it can tell the difference between us and them!

A COG prototype drone warrior. Got my inspiration from the automatons/synthetics from UT2004 (gasp, another Epic title!) as well as the Robocain from Robocop 2.

A Pre E-day project that was initially cancelled due to lack of progress, but secretly revived under Chairman Prescott's orders, led by a new research team - mostly composed of scientists who had been dismissed for ethics violations on other projects. Although large in comparison to a human, the frame is agile and exceptionally strong. It can take cover behind obstacles and run while carrying heavy weapons (mortar, mulcher, one shot, etc).

Speculation remains as to whether the battleframe has a fully autonomous AI, or a human brain on life support powering its command interface. Despite appearing to be a merely weaponized automaton, the frame possess superb situational awareness, in addition to lightning fast reflexes and deadly accuracy.

One of these (in fact, the only functioning unit in existence) is attached to NAVSOC team 2 and parachuted onto Azura during the first battle on the island.

Of course it's meant to be overpowered and not intended for Versus or even Horde MP. SP/Coop only.

Now from a gameplay point of view here's how things would work. Holding down the LTrigger halfway activates auto-aim, which locks onto your target's head or center of mass, whichever is closer, but holding it down all the way allows you to free aim. The Model-01 will have a HUD active the whole time - there will be a crosshair in the middle of the screen whether you are aiming or not. The crosshair will still be visible when blindfiring, though there will be more drift and recoil as a result. The Model-01 cannot roll or dive, but tapping a in any direction will cause it to leap in that direction. If there is an enemy in the way during the leap, that enemy will suffer some damage and will be knocked down. Melee attacks with the Model-01 will down most enemies in one hit, except for large locust species and creatures. Holding down B when close to an enemy will activate a kick move, which will cause the enemy to stumble back quite some distance - and can be used to knock back maulers when their shields are up.

Love it, definitely looks fitting for the Gears universe, especially considering Prescott would be the kind of guy to hide something like this.

Also would you mind if this gets featured in a locust centered fanfic I plan to start sometime? It wouldn't be until a decent way in that this thing shows up but it would be featured a couple of times, once with a minigun as the "original" and then lesser models with either of the other three weapons shown that are easier to kill, but there's more than one. If you agree, I'll label at the beginning of the first chapter and at the end of each chapter it appears in that it's your work and that they can find it here on DA.

Sure go ahead. I'll probably redesign it later on though. Haven't done GoW art in ages.
